If you can’t be good, at least be safe

Halloween is coming up, and one of my wife’s favorite sayings is ‘if you can’t be good, at least be safe.’  So, with that in mind, here are some tips for staying safe this Halloween.  Of course, we encourage you to be good, too.

  • If wearing a mask, make sure you and / or your child can see and breathe through it easily  Or better yet, use makeup instead of a mask.
  • Have children carry flashlights so they can see where they’re going, as well as be seen by others, especially motorists
  • Only trick or treat at known houses with lights on, don’t go inside the home!
  • Children should not run through the neighborhood, and especially into the road
  • Don’t drink and drive!  If you’re enjoying an adult Halloween, get a designated driver or a cab.
  • Be careful with candles!
  • Keep your sidewalks clear for trick or treaters
